New Sally dark ride holds a secret. Laser Raiders opens at Legoland Windsor

Sally Corporation Press Release:
Jacksonville, FL: Sally Corporation’s newest interactive dark ride, Laser Raiders, which opened at Legoland Windsor’s new Kingdom of the Pharoahs last week, not only hides secrets of the pharaohs within its walls, it also hides a secret, high-scoring, bonus target that almost guarantees a win for the rider who zaps it with his or her laser.
The 7,000 sq. ft. (650 sq.m.) black light, ten-scene ride, featuring the popular Lego characters Johnny Thunder, Miss Pippin Reed and archeologist Dr.Kilroy, pits guests against the wiles of evil Sir Sam Sinister as they rescue Miss Pippin Reed from his grasp and strive to stop him from stealing the treasure of the ancient temple. Only by hitting the targets scattered throughout the ride can you win this battle.
Ten custom Lego-style Jeep ride cars, equipped with ‘laser blasters’ and scoring consoles, carry riders through a spider’s lair (where Pippin Reed is trapped in a web), past a performing skeleton band, into the professor’s lab, into the midst of exploding dynamite and the path of a moving, spiked wall—among other hair-raising events. The final scene has a storyline twist and a big, dramatic ending.
While the ride is very similar to the Sally-built Lost Kingdom Adventure at Legoland California, which has been a visitor favorite since its opening last year, one big difference is that secret bonus target:
Ray Dominey, Sally Corporation’s vice-president of technical services, installed the secret bonus target as an exciting added surprise for guests. “When a guest hits the special bonus target, an additional 7,007 points will show up on their score…when you see the final number, seven, on the console, you know you hit it: every other target score ends in zero.
“There are ninety targets in the ride,” Dominey says, “and there’s no way to tell which is the special one—until you hit it.” He does offer a hint: “The score is assigned to a red target…but then (he smiles), remember that if you hit a green target, it could turn red.”
